The funny things they do...

The past week has been another week full of humor in our household. Kate's cousins Rachel & Rylee gave Kate two of thier old barbies. Kate loves Barbies, and this week she named her two new friends. Popsicle and Jesus. She has entered the stage of playing on her own with her "friends" quite often. I can't tell you how humorous it is to see her teach Jesus how to color, or to put Popsicle in time out. On Saturday, two imaginary friends entered our home. "Lina" & "Scrunkie". Kate has explained to me that Lina wears pink dresses, and has pink eyelashes, eyebrows, hair, she is 100% pink. The only detail she gave me on Scrunkie is that she wears a purple hat. :) Last night Kate was excited to go to bed because Lina and Scrunkie were staying for a sleepover, and they all needed to potty just one more time before bed. The imagination on that child amazes me.
Lyla is as precious as ever. I am doing everything I can to keep her a baby, but she is growing so fast. She stands on her own and she travels around standing while holding on to furniture, the play kitchen, our legs, anything she can find to keep herself up. It's not going to be long until she is full on walking, which means we will no longer have a "baby" in the house. I am not supposed to be sad about that, playing outside will be much easier and more fun with both girls on their feet, but it's hard to let go of having a baby!
One more funny note to add. We were in the grocery store tonight and passed by some pre-teens. Kate was admiring them, as I was thinking how much I do not look forward to those years, and how much I love having young girls that need me and depend on me. Kate said, "Mommy, I am going to be big someday." I said, "yes, but I don't want you to grow up, I like having you as my little girl." She said, "Mommy, I can just grow to be medium." I love her. I love being a mom to my girls! :)

Fun at Home

Kate loves to make her way to my closet on a regular basis to play in my heels, and when she found that I had pink ones, I think it really increased my "cool" status with her. Lyla is in the stage of getting into everything and exploring every inch of the house. She's so darn cute. I love this age!
